The Namibia Institute for Democracy (NID), founded in 1991, implements civic education, civil society development, socio-political survey and research, and anti-corruption programmes in Namibia.
Regional and local authorities play an important role in promoting economic development and providing citizens with basic services such as access to water, electricity, affordable housing, sanitation, public transport, quality education and healthcare services.
Last week the Namibia Institute for Democracy and the Hanns Seidel Foundation Namibia hosted a capacity-building training for the Omaheke regional and local authority councillors. The overall objective of this training was to provide Councillors with the knowledge, skills and tools needed to effectively serve and provide services to their communities.
