The Namibia Institute for Democracy was granted permission by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education to conduct a Civic Education Programme in Schools between the dates 28 May to 25 June 2018. The Civic Education Programme aimed to identify how familiar learners are with the Governance Process and also help them understand their roles as citizens in a democracy.
Civic Education School Programme
The activity objective of the program was to equip learners with important tools, in order to ensure continuous active citizen participation and national cohesion for Namibia. The Civic Education School Programme was targeted at secondary school learners from Hage Geingob, Andreas Shipena, Jacob Marenga, Imannuel Shifidi High and Centaurus Secondary Schools in grades 10, 11 & 12. The program content consisted of the Governance Process, the Namibian Constitution, the three branches of Government, Government watchdogs, as well as Advocacy and Lobbying.
