|Dienda, Elma Jane - CoD|
|Elma Dienda was a political unknown outside Congress of Democrats (CoD) circles when she emerged on the party’s list for the 2004 National Assembly (NA) elections at number four.
She joined the CoD in 1999 – the year of its formation – and in 2003 was elected as the Secretary of the party’s Women Democrats.
Dienda, who has a South African mother a Malawian father, is an active Christian and was among the first counsellors trained by Catholic AIDS Action. She is a teacher by profession. Dienda is a member of the NA’s Standing Committee on Public Accounts.
At the CoD’s controversial 2007 Extraordinary Congress she was in the camp that opposed the election of Ben Ulenga as party President.
