|Ngurare, Elijah - Swapo|
|A leading figure in the Swapo Party Youth League (SPYL), Elijah Ngurare rose to prominence as spokesperson after the youth wing’s congress in 2002. He is a member of the SPYL national executive and central committee. In addition he chairs the SPYL’s National Committee on Research, Development, Science and Technology.
Swapo appointed Ngurare as a director on the board of its company, Kalahari Holdings, in 2002. At the time Ngurare said: “We were appointed by the party to turn the company around … to make it into something rank and file party members can be proud of” (The Namibian, December 13 2002). He represents the party on the boards of satellite TV company MultiChoice Namibia and internet firm M-Web, which are both partly owned by Kalahari Holdings.
He is regarded as close associate of Swapo youth leader Paulus Kapia and in 2005 emerged as one of his main defenders during the High Court inquiry into Avid Investment Corporation – the controversial asset management company of which Kapia was a director. He is also a confidant of founding President Sam Nujoma.
